Grand Designs Live, taking place at ExCel London from 30th April to 8th May, is another in a string of successful Aztec - Media 10 collaborations. One of the biggest shows of the year, a spin-off of the popular TV show Grand Designs, showcased stylish and innovative home design, attracting huge crowds and over 500 exhibitors covering interiors, gardens, DIY, renovations and technology.
As official audiovisual provider, Aztec supplied audiovisual equipment for all the big live theatres and a number of stands. The imposing Grand Theatre was the buzzing heart of the show, with Kevin McCloud delivering the opening speech and a range of prominent speakers discussing home improvements. The theatre, regularly packed to capacity, featured a huge 17x13 ft projection screen powered by a 15,000 lumen projector, and a powerful 10-speaker Martin soundsystem. We had a dedicated technician catering for 5 shows per day, and also provided a live video feed.
In addition to providing PAs, large screens, and video feeds to the theatres, Aztec equipped the Dulux Let’s Colour feature area, which successfully fused technology and creativity, with iPads, laptops and Wi-Fi. We also provided lighting for the charming fountain at the entry, designed entirely of home furniture and awash in show colours. Furthermore, for one of our clients we built a tailored Christie MicroTiles™ enclosement, consisting of a 5x4 tiles (2x1.2m) wall inside a custom built black shell scheme.
