Grand Designs Live 2010, a spin off of the hugely successful Channel 4 TV show Grand Designs, took place at London's ExCeL between 1st and 9th May 2010. After a fantastic collaboration on the Ideal Home Show, the organisers Media 10 once again appointed Aztec as their official audiovisual supplier.
The annual Grand Designs Live, voted "Consumer Show of the Year" in the 2009 AEO Awards, showcases classy, innovative and cutting-edge design. Divided into Interiors, Build, Kitchens, Bathrooms, Gardens, Shopping, Food, Village and Technology, it provides visitors the opportunity to buy, build and furnish a house all under one roof.
Upon arrival to the show, visitors passed through a tunnel bathed in show colours and arrived to an information point/bar overlooked by a large funnel. Each zone had its own signature colour and texture, and the funnel was washed by zone imagery from four projectors, blended into one another to create maximum impact. All of this was done by Aztec.
Aztec also equipped the stunning Grand Seminar Theatre, which hosted a multitude of high-profile presentations by the likes of Kevin McCloud, George Clarke and Duncan Clark. The theatre, regularly packed to capacity, featured a huge 17x13 ft projection screen powered by a 15,000 lumen projector and an audio set up that featured twelve Martin F10 speakers.
The show culminated with the Grand Design Awards, a black-tie awards ceremony celebrating the best of British home design. The awards were also held in the Grand Seminar Theatre, enhanced with additional lighting and sound. Creative executions, produced by Aztec's creative arm Aztec Digital, included a video sting and presentations with the Keynote address. The event was filmed with two cameras.
Aztec also provided the audiovisual equipment for Kitchen, Eastside Inn Restaurant, Garden Tea Party, How To Design Theatre, Eco Living, and The House of the Future.
Senior Account Manager Leo Speck, commenting on the ongoing Media 10 collaboration, said: "It's quite simple really; Media10 have great ideas and we are able to make them happen. We seem to have really clicked."
